The Latest News !

October 2008:- The kit for the 2009 car has arrived and we are looking at constructing an engine test bed to compare the old and new engines. Designs for the bodywork have been sent to Lotus for them to look at and the plug construction has started.

September 2008:- The visit to Lotus was great. We looked at the factory and saw the new production line being fitted. We took the winning car and Lotus very kindly spent a long time discussing possible improvements. They have given us loads of ideas and have offered to help in making the body for next years car.

July 2008:- Torne Valley have again kindly offered their financial support for 2009.

June 2008:- Thought we had blown it in the Grand Prix when we had problems with the throttle but some great driving was enough to bring the trophy home.

May 2008:- A fantastic 86% in judging well done lads!

May 2008:- The team are working hard to prepare for for the judging at South Leeds City Learning Centre on the 21st.

April 2008:- Tyre testing and brake testing in progress.

March 2008:- Carbon Fibre blank for the chassis arrives but can it be drilled and machined in to shape?

December 2007:- Work begins on cardboard/resin 'disposable' bodies for use on raceday.

November 2007:- We would like to welcome our new sponsors Torne Valley, J Rust and Son and Brogan Construction. Thankyou for your support.

October 2007:- The new car is running and the disc brake appears to work well. The wind tunnel is built and we are investigating body shapes.

July 2007:- The results are in and Serlby Park Racing came fifth overall. The team also managed to achieve the second highest engineering score in the whole event. A real reward for a lot of hard work.

May 2007:- Thanks to DMR and Retford Honda the aluminium body is complete and ready to fit. The compsite body has been finished and is ready to be fitted to the car. The new chassis is complete and the parts have been added to it. Holes have been drilled into the chassis to lighten the weight and aid the centre of gravity. Tyre testing is complete and the racing car will be using padded tyres.

March 2007:- Work is ongoing with the bodywork, DMR accident repair centre have kindly offered to bond an aluminium body together and the plug/mould for the composite body is completed.

February 2007:- The prototype car is running well and the positioning of the components on the chassis has been optimised to give the best possible weight distribution. The rear differential is fitted and this has dramatically improved the cornering of the car noticeably reducing the tendency to spin and skid. Thanks to Esterchem Chemicals for supplying the specialised lubricant.

January 2007 - The minibus is booked for Silverstone but we are not sure how the team and all the equipment will fit in. We would like to thank DMR accident repair centre for their technical assistance in constructing aluminium bodywork components.

November 2006:- Serlby Park Racing has received two generous financial donations from Perrys of Doncaster and Tunnel Tech. These donations will not only allow us to start the construction of the car but they will also allow us to begin testing and analysing some of our new ideas for the car.

We welcome our new sponsors onto the team and if any other sponsors would like to join the team then please contact Geoff in the science department at Serlby Park School.
